Youth Advocate Program

The function of the Youth Advocate Program is: alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention, promoting social justice issues, and granting youth a voice in an often times one-sided debate, thereby empowering them as powerful catalysts for change within their respective social circles and communities.



Skillz Summer School

Love + support + high expectations + credits = a winning formula for teen success. SKILLZ Summer School is a free summer learning experience for teens most at risk of dropping out of school or failing to graduate. SKILLZ focuses on students entering 9th and 10th grades who have multiple F grades and provides them with a supportive environment, high expectations and the opportunity to earn both elective and academic credits.

Community Based Alcohol and Drug Prevention

Day One’s alcohol prevention programs are aimed at improving the environments it serves. Environmental approaches to positively influence individual decision-making uses four strategies: Media messages, access and availability, policy and enforcement, and social norms.

Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)

Recognizing the role exercise and healthy nutrition play on the cognitive development, academic performance, and future health of young adults in our communities, Day One supports and actively champions community-driven environmental prevention policies that make the healthy choice, the easy choice. Examples include efforts to make our communities more pedestrian, bicycle and transit-friendly.
